Visual Arts Alberta is pleased to present the first annual photography competition & exhibition, Open Photo 2008, exhibiting some of Alberta's finest photographers.

Visual Arts Alberta received an overwhelmingly positive response to this open call to Alberta photographers.  Over 260 photographs were submitted to our jury for consideration.  Sixty pieces were selected, and Visual Arts Alberta is pleased to present to you the juried selected work.

Shirley Adams, Barbara Amos, Joan Bailey, Davis Belcher, James Clarke, Vincent Dale, Scott   Dimond, Aaron Falkenberg, Gina Fowler,  James Gaa, Vala Grenier, Sebastien Guillier-Sahugue, Mu Hansa, Anthony Howarth, Isabelle Hunt-Johnson, Megan Kemshead, Ron Kenworthy, Kevin Law, Candace Makowichuk, TJ McLaughlan, Roberta Murray, Larynda Okerstrom, Laurie O'Shaughnessy, Felix Plawski, Anne Marie Resta, Mike Roest, Michael Todor, Renee van der Putten, Elaine Wannechko, Natalie Weiswasser, Gerry Yaum, and Cameron Young.

Guest juror Bob Chelmick will choose the best over-all photographer as well as two honorable mentions prior to the opening reception.

The VAAA Gallery, Open Photo 2008

Awards – including the first prize award of a solo exhibition at the prestigious Tu Gallery -  will be presented that evening, May 29,2008, at the opening reception.
